President
Prof. Sunil Kumar Gupta, Vice Chancellor
of Himachal Pradesh University, and President, IIHS, is providing
his valuable services to the Himachal Pradesh University for
the last 29 years. Prof. Gupta joined the university as a
research fellow in the year 1979. Thereafter from the year
1981 to 1985 he worked as a Research Associate. He joined
the Department of Commerce, Himachal Pradesh University, as
a lecturer in the year 1985, further he became Reader and
then a Professor in the year 2000. He remained the Chairman
in the Department of Commerce from 2000-2002 and 2004-2006.
He also remained Coordinator in the Institute of Management
Studies, Himachal Pradesh University, from 1996 to 2003. He
has guided seven Ph.Ds and more than fifty M. Phil students.
He has completed more than eighteen research projects sponsored
by different funding agencies such as H.P. Government, UGC,
ministry of HRD and Institute of Integrated Himalayan Studies.
He has published six books and seventeen research papers.
Prof. Gupta headed important positions such as President of
Teachers Association in H.P. University Shimla and Secretary
of Himachal Pradesh University Teachers Welfare Association,
Shimla. Presently Prof. Gupta is member of various academic
bodies and NGOs. He is the Chairman of SPARASH, Shimla, Chairman
of Executive and Advisory Committee of Institute of Integrated
Himalayan Studies (UGC Centre of Excellence), H.P. University,
Shimla.
Director
Prof. S.P. Bansal [M.Com. M.Phil, Ph.D., DCO. SCHE
(Switzerland)]
Born
in the year 1965, Prof. S.P. Bansal, is associated with a
number of academic and research institutes in India and abroad.
He has been in the university from last twenty years. Tourism
Management, Marketing, Quantitative & Finance are his
areas of specialization. He is the founder Chairman of Institute
of Vocational Studies and he is presently the Director of
the Institute. In addition to this, Prof. Bansal holds many
other distinguished positions. He is the Programme Coordinator
of UGC Innovative Programme, Nominated Director in Board of
Directors, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation,
Himachal Pradesh, and General Secretary of Indian Tourism
Congress. He is the member of various academic & research
committees and editorial boards at national and international
level. Prof. Bansal has published eleven books more than sixty
research papers in National and International journals. He
is also the Chief Editor of Tourism Development Journal and
Himalayan Studies Journal. He has earned a special acclaim
for the Himachal Pradesh University, by representing the university
in various national and international seminars, conferences
and workshops. He has successfully accomplished ten foreign
assignments. Prof. Bansal has guided more than eleven doctoral
works and all his students are well-settled in their respective
departments/ institutes. Innovative thinking and leadership
qualities have helped Dr. Bansal in achieving success and
entitled him for receiving various awards and recognition.
Prof Bansal is the recipient of ‘Vikas Ratan Award’,
which was conferred by International Integration and Growth
Society, New Delhi, ‘Jewel of India Award’,
conferred by International Institute of Education and
Management, New Delhi. He was selected for Man of the
Year-2002, by American Biographical Institute, of United
States of America.

Dr.
Virender K. Santvan (Assistant Professor, Environmental Science)
M.Sc, Ph.D (has 15 years post Ph. D experience and
his main field of specialization is Mountain Environment and
Bio-diversity. He has been associated with the Institute of
Integrated Himalayan Studies since its inception in April,
2002. He was associated with the Centre of Environmental Studies,
Himachal Pradesh University during 1994-2001. He is coordinating
various activities (Academic & Research) under taken by
Institute. He has work experience in various fields including
ecosystem and biodiversity projects supported by the State
Council for Science Technology and Environment, Govt. of Himachal
Pradesh and Gujarat Ambuja Cement (Ltd.). He has been teaching
Ecology in the Department of Biosciences in Himachal University
and has also worked with the G.B. Pant Institute on Himalaya
Environment and Development.

Dr. Rattan Singh Chauhan (Sr. Research Officer); Ph.D,
(History) from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
His area of specialization is socio-cultural and historical
aspects of hill states. His research Articles are Published
in Various News Papers& Magazine,i.e. Himalayan Times,
Somsi Patrika, Himvanti, Giri Raj, kurukshatra, HimPrast,
Saskar Patrika. He has also acquired work experience in the
department of Art, Languages and Culture, Himachal Pradesh
and is currently doing research on role of various academic
agencies and NGO's in Watershed Management and Agro marketing.
He is also life member of various developmental societies
like CSS, MRWO, and HSSS. He guided 5 M.Phil in History from
different Universities and also teach Modern History to PG
and Undergraduate Student of ICDEOL, H.P. University Shimla

Dr. Pawan K. Attri (Sr. Research Officer), ), M.Sc.,
M.Phil, Ph.D (Environmental Biology) from Himachal
Pradesh University, Shimla. His areas of interest are Environmental
Biology, Bee-floral diversity and Environmental management
and conservation. He has acquired nine years research experience
and has been associated with IIHS since its conception. He
is also engaged with CAPART for monitoring and evaluation
of research projects under Ministry of Rural Development.
He is actively associated with Ambuja Cement Ltd & Lafarage
India Ltd and other research societies (MRDA, WWF, SERD) as
a resource person for research in Environment related projects
and has also taught in academic institutes in Himachal Pradesh.

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar(Sr. Research Officer )
He is PhD in Political Science and International Relation
from HP University, Shimla-5. He is working in IIHS (UGC Centre
of Excellence) since 2004. He has also been associated with
PRIA (Participatory Research in Asia), Institute of Economic
Growth, and CSDS (Centre for the Studies of Developing Society),
New Delhi. He has been working as Principal Investigator/Coordinator
in more than eight projects in the Institute as well as outside
the institute. He has also worked as Coordinator/consultant
of Seminars, Workshops and conferences organized in institute
and outside the Institute. His key areas of research interest
include; Sustainable Development & Watershed Management;
Governance and Policy Studies; Environment; PRIs; Rural Development
and PRA (Participatory Action Research) Techniques and SPSS
software.

Dr. Randhir Ranta (Sr. Research Officer)
Ranta received both his master and doctorate degrees in clinical
psychology from H P. University, Shimla. He is teaching therapeutic
intervention, psychoneurotic disorder, cognitive process -
ii, psychology of happiness, health psychology, marital adjustment
to post graduate students in the Department of Psychology,
H.P. University, Shimla for the last five years as guest faculty.
He also has a post graduate diploma in marketing management
from H.P.University, Shimla. His present interests are Indian
psychology, hypnotherapy parapsychology and health psychology.
He is actively involved with government and NGOs for conducting
various training programmes in area of stress management,
anger management, conflict management, positive attitude,
marital adjustment, etc. for doctors, nurses, bank employees,
police, students, etc. for last 8 years in Himachal Pradesh.

Dr. Pankaj Gupta (Sr. Research Officer), Ph. D. (Life-Sciences)
is working in the Institute since its inception. His areas
of interest are village studies, natural resource management,
health oriented problems of women and children particularly
nutritional, anthropometric and dietary studies, traditional
health care systems and magico-religious methods of healing,
ethno-Cultural, ethno-ecological and audiovisual documentation
of culture and nature. He is also the Editor of Himalayan
Studies Journal and Biannual Bulletin of the Institute. }

Dr. Pushpa
Thakur (Research Officer) Ph.D. (Zoology) from
Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. Her area of specialization
and interest include Radiation Biology, Animal Muscle Physiology,
Environmental Ecology and Fisheries.

Dr. Bhawani Singh (Research Officer), Ph.D (Hindi)
and pursuing PhD in JMC from Himachal Pradesh University,
Shimla. His areas of specialization are Folk Literature, Socio
Cultural Aspect of Himachal Himalaya and Print & Electronic
Media Studies. He is associated with various media agencies
i.e. New Bright Star, Metro Ujala, Sanskar, Gagnanachal &
All India Radio etc. He has also teach Hindi Sahitya to post
graduate and M.Phill Student in the Department of Hindi, ICDEOL,
H. P. University, Shimla for three years as guest faculty.

Rakesh Singh Thakur (Research Officer), Ph.D (Economics)
from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. His areas of interest
and specialization include Development & Planning, Micro-Economics

Kuldeep Singh (Research Officer) is pursuing his Ph.D
in Geography from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
His areas of specialization are GIS /Remote sensing, physical
geography and watershed and sustainable development. He had
worked as a JRF in NIRD, Hyderabad and taught in Govt. College
Joginder Nagar as a Lecturer in Geography. As for as his experiences
in GIS/Remote Sensing is concerned he has good working knowledge
of ARCGIS 9.1, 9.2, ERDAS imagine 9.1., open source GIS software
like Open Jump, ILWIS,SAGA, GRASS, Post GIS, Quantum-GIS and
SPSS Software. He is capable of handling, GPS and all kinds
of latest version of still and video cameras.

Sh. Nitin Vyas (Project Officer), going to
submit PhD thesis on tribal tourism in the department of MTA
from HPU, Shimla. Presently working on different eco tourism
projects of Institute. He was engaged in teaching in Rajeev
Gandhi Govt. College, Shimla, St. Bede’s College, Shimla
and Hotel Management Institute, Solan. His area of interest
is Eco-tourism and sustainable tourism development. He is
also engaged by different tourist agencies for promotion of
tourism in Himachal Pradesh.
