Ethno-Medico-Botany of Kunihar, District Solan, Himachal Pradesh, Saroj Verma and N.S. Chauhan

Traditional medicine continues to provide the health care needs of a vast majority of the people all over the world. The importance of ethnomedicines has been realized by various sections of the society and the need to use herbal medicines in health care programmes is highly stressed. Medicinal plants provide safe and efficient aids to health care and disease free life. The present study reveals the richness of the ethno pharmacological resources of Kunihar Forest Division as indicated by number of remedies. The efficacies of these plants have been tried and tested by various communities since time immemorial. In this report 144 species are classified as Medicinal and Aromatic Plants which are used in household remedies, 32 species are used as food and edible species, 17 as timber species, 19 as fuelwood species, 10 fiber and flosses yielding species, 21 fodder species, 12 as tans and dyes yielding species and 11 as oil yielding species.
